East West College *new classes*

What an exciting couple of months it has been .. with a day of meditation with the Evolve Festival, a brilliant evening with visiting meditation instructor Sarah McLean, and I have been working hard on my first meditation CD (almost finished) .. and lots more projects in the 'pipeline' ..

One very exciting piece of news I can share .. is a new venue for meditation classes, and new friends for the 'tribe' ..

East West College is found in Caulfield (Melbourne) .. they are Australia’s Oldest Shiatsu and Massage School (established in 1978) .. and provide a range of professional training programs in Therapeutic Massage, Shiatsu, Oriental and Complimentary therapies .. as well as operating clinics at the college where the general public (you and me) can enjoy treatments in shaitsu, therapeutic & remedial massage and reflexology.

Sharing our passion for meditation with some new classes starting next month ..

MEDITATION @ The Sandringham Club

Daytime Meditation Series

Wednesday mornings 10am-11.30am

Classes focus on a particular meditation 'theme' over two weeks and include instruction, practice and discussion. We shall explore our 'theme' from 10am to 11am, then spend a half hour in practice/stillness finishing at 11.30am. There are currently six weeks scheduled, each week is designed to build on our general understanding and experience of meditation. Themes will change across the year.

Let's Meditate : looking at the 'nuts & bolts' of meditation, how to get started, some common hurdles and FAQ, and we explore some simple techniques that focus on relaxing the body in order to calm the mind. 14 & 21 April

Just Breathe
: almost all meditative traditions begin with a foundation practice using the breath. The breath is a perfect starting point as it is always with us, is immediately available and it brings us quickly into the present moment. We explore some shorter 'spot' meditations as well as some longer more traditional breath meditations. 28 April & 5 May

Mindfulness Practices : Mindfulness meditation is about attending to what is going on in the present moment .. with non judgemental awareness. Almost any activity done mindfully can therefore become part of our practice. We shall look at mindfulness of movement and mindfulness of senses. 12 & 19 May

The Daytime Meditation series of six classes is $135; or you may prefer to attend one (or more) of the three 'themes' (two classes across two weeks $50). Ideally each class builds on the previous .. but sometimes life gets in the way of all good plans!

I hope to soon announce a new series of meditation classes "Meditation Beachside" starting the first week of February 2009.

The first program will be a four week 'Meditation for Beginners' program .. in a truly wonderful new venue which is right on the beach in Bayside Melbourne. This is an amazing space .. big windows, the sound of the ocean just outside, and a deck overlooking the beach .. and this will make for fabulous sunset meditations, and the possibility of morning classes with the occasional dolphin sighting!

My wonderful friend Robyn will be also be starting morning yoga classes in the same space. Stay tuned .. or email me if you would like to hear first.
