I can't wait .. it is almost time ... the 4th annual Australian Meditation Conference is almost here!

This is a brilliant event .. unique and inspiring .. bringing together a wealth of meditation voices from Australia and overseas.

The Conference will be held at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology's Storey Hall (where it was located last year) on Saturday October 8, 2011. There are also some pre and post-conference workshops on the Friday (7th) and Sunday (9th).Wi th the conference being led by Dr Craig Hassed (as MC) .. you can also hear from:

And .. if that is not enough for your weekend .. why not try:

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP: CONSCIOUS EVOLUTION — PETREA KINGFriday October 7, 10.00am - 4.00pm
Northcote Town Hall, 189 High Street, Northcote

A practical workshop explores how to align ourselves with the evolving consciousness that is flowering on the planet so we can be of service to something that is greater than the sum of the individual parts.

POST-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP: WILD SERENITY — INSTINCTIVE MEDITATION & MOVEMENT PRACTICES WITH DR. LORIN ROCHE & CAMILLE MAURINESunday October 9, 9.30am - 5:00pm

This workshop is a Meditation Skills Lab, and it is great fun. You get a chance to explore many different pathways for entering meditation – a range of senses, postures, motions, and emotions. This enhances your personal practice and, if you are a teacher, may also enrich and refine your skills in guiding others.

Listening to ...

What a wonderful week .. a banquet of infinite delights (quoting Kevin Hume who MC'd at Saturday's Australian Meditation Conference) .. somehow this past week I have found myself in something of a slipstream of new thought and creativity. I am awash with new books, blogs, research and discussions .. lots to nourish and digest. And now I sense a greater understanding of the global trend of 'cultural creatives' which Kevin also introduced (more on that soon .. lots of reading still to be done).

Another great gift of this week has been new music .. thank you New World Music Australia and Australian Yoga Journal (Aug/Sept 2010 edition) .. a free CD 'Sounds of Samadhi' which I have had playing on repeat pretty much all week. Some old favourites and some new. I played the CD before a meditation class last night and had a number of inquiries. Maneesh de Moor is a fav. (you can hear one of his tracks on this blog) .. and the track 'Garuda' by Pravana who I believe is an Aussie as well! Highly recommended if you enjoy ambient world music .. little voice, lots of tones and evocative soundscapes.

The conference had a great range of speakers this year .. and many Australian's on the bill. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to listen, share and discuss what we are passionate about - and have our minds stretched and challenged too! I have a journal book filled with notes, quotes and ideas to research ..

All you can eat .. meditation

The time is almost here .. a full day .. all the meditation you could possibly want to eat!

The third annual Australian Meditation Conference happens in Melbourne on Saturday 31st July at RMIT's Storey Hall RMIT’s Storey Hall .. and brings together some of Australia's leading meditation teachers, researchers and performing artists in the field of contemplative/intuitive music.

An opportunity to catch up with one of my favourite meditation bloggers Clarke Scott .. you will have met him here recently when he unveiled the Australian Institute for Consciousness Studies .. a new Tasmanian retreat centre and a place for the ‘meeting of minds’. Clarke is a Buddhist monk ordained in the Tibetan tradition and his conference talk will present current research detailing the efficacy of meditation as both a diagnostic and therapeutic tool.

And one of my favourite meditation authors .. David Mitchie .. in my bookcase sits Buddhism for Busy People and Hurry Up and Meditate AND soon another (yet to be released Enlightenment to Go). David's talk is titled 'What Buddhism Brings To The Meditation Party' a review of how meditation can bring 'astonishing discoveries about the nature of mind and our innate capacity for enlightenment'.

Find out about this smorgasbord of meditation at Meditation Events .. who stage meditation-related events supporting the greater health and wellbeing of the Melbourne community and bringing together like-minded people.

Australian Meditation Conference

Wonderful news this week .. confirming details of this years Australian Meditation Conference Meditate10.

I totally loved attending the two previous conferences .. a whole weekend to soak up, talk, review and meet with our tribe. I have blogged previously about the inaugural
Meditate08 which was an outstanding success and potent for the opportunities it opened up for future conferences (and where I presented a free meditation workshop on The Breath) .. and then a bigger and bolder Meditate09 with an excellent line up and workshops from Australian meditation teachers including Paul Wilson and Petrea King.

So again .. on Saturday 31 July, 2010 .. we have another amazing opportunity to gather together, explore and play with all things Meditation! Listen to some of Australia's leading meditation teachers .. learn from recent research .. meet and discuss, and wander the hall of excellent exhibitors (ahh .. all those books and CDs I will want to add to my collection!).

I am particularly excited this year that one of my favourite meditation bloggers Clarke Scott will be presenting to the Conference .. you will have met him here recently when he unveiled the Australian Institute for Consciousness Studies .. a center for people to learn meditation and participate in retreats, but also providing a ‘meeting of minds’ bringing together contemplatives, scientists, academics, philosophers and psychologists to develop a collective understanding of consciousness and the human condition. Clarke is a Buddhist monk ordained in the Tibetan tradition and his conference talk will present current research detailing the efficacy of meditation as both a diagnostic and therapeutic tool.

Also, speaking will be one of my favourite meditation authors .. David Mitchie .. in my bookcase sits Buddhism for Busy People and Hurry Up and Meditate AND he is also releasing a new book Enlightenment to Go later this year. David is now living in Australia and his conference talk is titled 'What Buddhism Brings To The Meditation Party' a review of how meditation can bring 'astonishing discoveries about the nature of mind and our innate capacity for enlightenment'.

As more information comes to hand .. I will post more here .. better yet check out the links and maybe I will meet you there?
