Inspirational Meditation Quotes

I am moving forward (a little quicker now) with my new website which is exciting and daunting and challenging .. and exhausting.

In preparation of the big leap over to the new site (and I shall let you know when this happens and how you can make sure you keep in touch) .. I have had this wonderful opportunity to review most of the 800+ posts that I have shared here since late 2008.  It has been so interesting to see where I have wandered over the years .. what was I felt drawn to share .. and some of the great content I wrote!

I have always loved inspirational quotes - one of the very first posts on Quiet Mind was a quote - so I have decided to gathered all of these amazing inspirational words together and share them again .. see above and below this post .. mostly these will appear my Instagram account, but some will find their way to Facebook and to my new website.

Please feel free to share these .. but remember that the images must be shared complete with quietmind.com.au notation.

I hope you enjoy!

Gulping down our lives

“As it is, we are merely bolting our lives—gulping down undigested experiences as fast as we can stuff them in—because awareness of our own existence is so superficial and so narrow that nothing seems to us more boring than simple being.  If I ask you what you did, saw, heard, smelled, touched and tasted yesterday, I am likely to get nothing more than the thin, sketchy outline of the few things that you noticed, and of those only what you thought worth remembering. Is it surprising that an existence so experienced seems so empty and bare that its hunger for an infinite future is insatiable? But suppose you could answer, “It would take me forever to tell you, and I am much too interested in what’s happening now.” How is it possible that a being with such sensitive jewels as the eyes, such enchanted musical instruments as the ears, and such a fabulous arabesque of nerves as the brain can experience itself as anything less than a god? And, when you consider that this incalculably subtle organism is inseparable from the still more marvelous patterns of its environment—from the minutest electrical designs to the whole company of the galaxies—how is it conceivable that this incarnation of all eternity can be bored with being?”

Silence .. wise words from Rumi

Secretly we spoke, that wise one and me.

I said, Tell me the secrets of the world.

He said, Sh...

Let silence tell you the secrets of the world.
 ~ Rumi

Shall you include some silence in your plans for the Summer?

I have a personal ritual of taking a day or two in silence.  Usually between Christmas and New Year.

Sometimes if the timing is right (and family members engaged with their own adventures) I may find myself silent for a full day .. sometimes just a few hours here and there.

But even if not alone I shall include a personal commitment to inner silence.

Seeking to listen more than talk.
Pause more than rush.
Open more than closed.

This is where I find magic happens.

Bliss within the 'gap'

“It has been said that it’s the space between the bars that holds the tiger.

And it’s the silence between the notes that makes the music.

It is out of the silence, or “the gap,” or that space between our thoughts, that everything is created

including our own bliss.”

~ Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Just a short inspirational quote on this cold Friday evening in Melbourne.  Just wanted to share.  Wherever you are tonight .. welcome to Quiet Mind Meditation.  I hope you stay a moment, take a breath and put down your load.  Refresh.  Release.  Be peace.

Social media mindfulness bell

One of my secret little delights of late .. has been a little creativity project, putting together favourite quotes with gorgeous images.

I try to take most of the pictures myself, from holidays past or seasonal images from my day ...

I post these on our Facebook pages HERE or HERE as ..

Little meditation reminders .. setting aside some time for meditation each and every day ..

Like a mindfulness bell .. ringing out over social media.

Reminding us to PAUSE, take a BREATH and bring ourselves fully into the PRESENT MOMENT before moving forward with our day or next activity.

LIKE us on Facebook if you would like to receive these meditation reminders (they usually go out every couple of days).

The Power of Words

I love quotes.  As a teenager I kept a quote book to collect the words that 'spoke to me' (mostly quotes about love, inspiration and wisdom .. I note looking back).

Words have a power over us.

I first read James Allen's As a Man Thinketh when I was a teenager.  I have it still in my bookcase.

Later I read that the Buddha also spoke .. "we are what we think. all that we are arises with our thoughts. with our thoughts, we make the world.".

I have taken this quote today from the journal of my teenage years a reminder of the potency of our thoughts.  In meditation we rest in stillness and (sometimes) hear the quiet whisper of our thoughts, never heard before.

A reminder that our dreams are the 'seedlings of realities' and the very beautiful words ..

Inspiring Quote ...

May your mind transcend limitations.

May your consciousness expand in every direction.

Inspiring Quote ~ June 2010

Then with the gleaming of the night.
Close to the rising of the sun.
All my craving simply dried up.
As I sat there with my legs crossed.
